Most parents in Maryland go to great lengths to protect their children. Parents often research the best car seats and safest vehicles, and always ensure that their children are appropriately strapped in. Unfortunately, even the most safety-minded parents cannot completely safeguard their children. In fact, multiple children were reportedly injured following a recent motor vehicle accident.

The incident happened on a Sunday afternoon in early August. According to reports, a fire truck and crew had passed through the intersection where the accident happened just minutes before a collision between two vehicles occurred. When they received the call, they turned around. Upon discovering that there were seven people suffering from injuries, the fire chief declared the accident a mass casualty incident, opening up more resources.

Reports indicate that five of the victims were children. Though one police officer claims that no one suffered life-threatening injuries, three children and one adult were flown to the hospital. The three other victims were transported by ambulance.

Law enforcement officers provided few details regarding the cause of the incident, noting that the report had not been completed. If it is determined that the motor vehicle accident was caused by negligence on the part of one of the two drivers involved in the incident, the victims may determine that filing a personal injury lawsuit may be appropriate. An attorney with experience with such cases in Maryland can help them decide what action to take in the aftermath of the accident. A successfully presented case could result in a monetary award that could leave the plaintiffs better able to cope with the financial consequences created by their injuries, including medical expenses and lost wages.
