To many pet owners in Maryland and across the country, their pets are important members of their family. Despite this attitude, pet owners must also keep in mind that any animal could act unpredictably, and they could hold responsibility for pets’ actions. In fact, a recent dog attack that injured two people in another state remains under investigation.

The incident in question happened during the afternoon hours of a day in January. According to reports, police responded to the scene after receiving several calls about a dog attack. Upon arrival, officers reportedly discovered two people being attacked by a dog.

Police believe that the dog escaped and initially attacked a 1-year-old. Several bystanders attempted to remove the dog from the child. In the process, a 29-year-old man suffered a severe bite to his arm. One bystander was eventually able to restrain the dog, who has since been placed in quarantine. The conditions of the two victims were not reported.

Though police say that they have identified an owner, they indicate that the identification is tentative and are asking for anyone who recognized the dog to contact them. Unfortunately, the consequences of a dog attack such as this are often long-lasting and include both physical and emotional scars. Additionally, victims and their families may also face extensive medical bills. As such, those injured in such an attack in Maryland sometimes choose to file a personal injury lawsuit against the owners of the animals involved. An attorney with experience with such cases can these victims fully understand their options and initiate appropriate action.
